Animal Ethics and Politics

As you will witness from the books and articles I have written, my primary academic interest has been in the broad area of animal ethics and politics.

I am one of the principal exponents of a so-called ‘political turn’ in animal ethics. In particular, I have explored the relationship between animal protection and political concepts such as justice and democracy – see https://robert-garner.com/2020/04/12/can-democracy-ever-favour-animal-advocacy-robert-garner/

Below are videos of a few talks I have given on animal ethics and politics.

An excerpt from a lecture I gave in Sydney in 2013
My introduction to a seminar on animal experimentation organised jointly by the University of Leicester and the Centre for Animals and Social Justice on 4th July 2013
